Sugar Free | Pectin Free

Healthy eating does not have to be complicated. You just have to use whole, real ingredients and get down to the basics. For all you jam and jelly lovers- here’s a quick and simple recipe for homemade jam that you can whip up at home.


  • 2 cups frozen strawberries (or blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • **(optional) 1 tablespoon of your favorite healthier sweetener (raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar)

Chia seeds are pretty phenomenal. Not only are they packed full of nutrients such as protein, fiber, and omega 3’s but they have this super ability to expand.

That’s why I use it to make homemade jam. It’s hard to come across a jar of jam in the store that does not contain either sugar, fructose corn syrup, or preservatives. And if you do, the price is usually pretty steep.

With this recipe, all you have to do is slowly cook frozen fruits at a really low heat. Add the chia seeds so that it thickens the mixture. And that’s it!

**Note: This recipe can also be used with fresh fruits. If your fruits are sweet enough, you can omit the sweeteners.
